Behind the Author
R.M. Kain is the pen name of a former chartered surveyor whose nomadic working life was spent overseeing major projects in large cities and obscure locations alike.
Recently retired, and with his three precious children all grown up and moved away to independence, he is finally pursuing his lifelong dream to write about the kind of life he believed he would have led had he been born in a different time and place.
He now lives in a former mining village in the folds of the rolling hills which surround Cardiff. He is a frequent and enthusiastic visitor to many of the licensed premises described in this series of novels.
Jock of the Bay
Jock of the Bay is the first novel featuring John McLean. He is a highly decorated combat soldier and special forces trainer who returns to civilian life and establishes a lucrative insurance investigation business.
When he is forced to track down the missing teenage daughter of a local crime lord he finds the danger and thrills he still misses from combat. His quest leads him into the decadent underbelly of Cardiff, Europe’s fastest growing capital city, where drugs, pornography and child prostitution are no more than currency.
Desperate to stop the girl from disappearing permanently, he is prepared to do whatever is necessary to secure freedom for her and the other victims he uncovers along the way, even if it means exacting a retribution which risks his life.
This is the first in a series of novels featuring John McLean. Each book takes you closer to unravelling his unique morality and the complexities of the life which shaped it.
A number of best-selling authors were kind enough to read my drafts prior to publication. Their enthusiasm, support and encouragement could not have been more welcome in what I am discovering is a very lonely occupation.
That they took the time is very much appreciated. Here are some of their comments together with a link to their Amazon pages where the quality of their work speaks volumes about their judgement.
